Purr…fect Fence is currently making over 25,000 cats happy, healthy and safe outdoors. During the past five years we have developed and produced an incredibly effective (99.99+% success rate) free-standing cat containment system.

We have recently made some design changes to address two common customer requests:

• Provide a system that effectively cat-proofs an existing fence.
• Provide a system that complies with 6' height zoning limits (our previous system stood 7'6" high).

We developed two new systems to cat-proof your yard and the key to both is the all new pivoting fence extension arm. This "spring action" is activated by the cats weight swinging the horizontal component of the arm downward safely returning your feline friend to the ground while the spring-loaded arm will immediately return to its resting position.

1. Free Standing System

For areas without a pre-existing fence, our improved Houdini-Proof Cat Containment System offers the same incredible performance as our original system but at the new lower 6' height (6' is the maximum height allowed in many local zoning ordinances). Now zoning restrictions will not get in your way of turning your yard into a paradise for your cats.

The extremely strong yet flexible poly mesh makes climbing very difficult, but the safeguards for our cat containment systems are the Cat-Proofer™ extender arms which enable the entire upper section of the fence to pivot.  The cat's weight causes these horizontal extension arms to swing downward, safely returning your pet to the ground. Once the cat's weight is released from the mesh, the spring-loaded  extenders immediately return the upper section of the fence to its horizontal position.

2. Existing Fence Conversion System

Existing Fence Conversion System w/ Cat-Proofer™ pivoting extension arms.

Our evolutionary Cat-Proofer™ pivoting fence extension makes it easy and affordable to convert most any 5' or 6' fence (or wall) into a cat-proof barrier. The pivoting fence extensions are attached near the top of the inside of your fence and the high strength mesh material is stretched between them attaching with the included zip ties. Simply secure the lower portion of the mesh material to your fence or wall and your cat-proof barrier is complete.

Both systems include detailed written instructions. The Purr…fect Fence staff is also available for technical help during business hours. Many of our customers e-mail pictures to gain our assistance in figuring out the best way to cat-proof their property.  Keep in mind that if you happen to have a property that is partially fenced or you would like to include only a portion of your existing fence into your cat enclosure, we have the answer… Since both systems utilize the same Cat-Proofer™ fence extensions, you can blend one fence system into the other seamlessly.

Post Kit Information

Our cat fence kit includes the ideal number of posts for 100' of fence UNLESS you plan on making multiple turns or have changes in grade. Here are a few guidelines for posts: Posts may be positioned no more than 14' from each other. You need to position a post at every point you want the fence to turn/make a corner. You need to position a post where any grade change occures.

We highly recommend that you use the above perameters to mark the location of each post you will need to install for your enclosure so you will know if your installation requires additional posts. Please note that (8) post assemblies are include with each kit. Please see our example fence configurations.

Additional posts and all the associated components needed for a post (sleeve, arch, etc) are available in our new 2-PostKit.

2-Post Kits

Our 2-Post Kit contains all the components necessary for (2) complete post assemblies. Although we have always sold additional posts individually through direct phone sales, the new 2-Post Kit offers an easier and less expensive alternative to purchasing all the necessary components individually.

Kit contains: (2) Arches (2) Sleeves (2) Posts and all associated hardware.

Outdoor Cat Enclosure Details

Our "Houdini-Proof" Outdoor Cat Enclosure has several components, but its’ ultimate key to keeping cats safely enclosed is the carefully engineered arch along the top.

Should your cat decide to climb the enclosure (unlikely due to it’s unique flexural properties), it will turn even the most persistent cat back in towards the enclosure.

The entire outdoor cat enclosure (measured to the top/apex of the arch) is 7 feet high. Beginning at the outermost edge of the arch, the fence is constructed from a 7.5 foot wide roll of high-strength polypropylene mesh grid.

The bottom 18 inches of the fence are comprised of a 1.75” inch square steel mesh Chew Guard (black vinyl coated and same size openings as fence) that keeps rodents and predators from chewing access holes along the lower portion of the cat enclosure.

This mesh is supplied in a 24 inch wide roll to allow for overlapping an additional 6 inches onto the ground to keep cats and/or predators from pushing underneath. To pin this material to the ground, 30 - 12 inch long, galvanized steel Ground Stakes with a special "kinked" shaft to prevent slippage are also included.

Heavy Duty Posts (black) with inserts are also part of the system. The inserts (sleeves) eliminate climbing a ladder or digging holes to install posts - simply pound the sleeves into the ground with the use of a sledgehammer and Driving Cap.

Zip Ties attach the fencing to the posts, and the chew guard to the fencing. For larger projects, a Hog Ringer & Hog Rings can be used to attach the two types of fencing together.
